We then travel over to Glenshee, the skiing capital of Scotland, hoping to catch a glimpse of wild deer or pheasant before heading down to the Royal Deeside.

There have been gatherings of one sort or another at Braemar since the days of King Malcolm Canmore, over nine hundred years ago. Today the gathering is run by the Braemar Royal Highland Society and each year large crowds come to acclaim their Monarch as Chieftain of the Braemar Gathering.

The festivities are fit for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the First of Scotland and various members of the Royal Family including H.R.H. Queen Elizabeth the first of Scotland will be in attendance. International athletes will be among those taking part in the track and dancing events. Teams from H.M. Forces that will compete in the Inter-Services Unit Tug of War Championship and in the Services Medley Relay Race. Scottish Pipe Bands will play their hearts out with the customary Massed Pipe Bands appearing as well as traditional Scottish meals, snacks and refreshments will be available. See less
