Itinerary
Passing the birthplace of Andrew Carnegie, the world famous philanthropist, we travel along the Fife coast and the charming little fishing villages of the “East Neuk”, stopping in Anstruther, an old Herring stronghold where you may take the opportunity to try “the best fish and chips in Scotland” or have a snack at the Fisheries Museum. We then continue on to St Andrews, home of golf, religion and of course St. Andrews University. You will have the chance to spend up to 2.5 hours in this historic and beautiful town. In good weather, the beach featured in the movie “Chariots of Fire”, is a particularly popular sight. You’ll also be able to visit and enjoy the intriguing 16th Century tunnels beneath the Castle.
Golfers may want to visit the grave of Young Tom Morris, the Golf Museum, the Links Course putting green, or simply walk along Grannie Clark’s Wynd, a public right-of-way, over the 1st and the 18th fairways of the old course.
Our final stop of the day is to stretch your legs and take some photos of the beautiful village of Falkland, nestled between the two Lomond Hills in the Howe of Fife. Fans of "Outlander" will recognise Falkland as the stand-in for Inverness, where Claire and Frank honeymoon. You can see several shops and locations from the programme including the fountain Jamie stands at and stares in Claire’s window.
